Gov. Gregoire announces appointments to boards and commissions

OLYMPIA � April 20, 2005 � Gov. Christine Gregoire today announced appointments to the following boards and commissions:

Washington State Horse Park Authority
Lisa Cohen of Seattle has been appointed to a term effective April 11, 2005 ending March 18, 2008. Cohen is a freelance political communications consultant and news producer. She is also a member of the NW Gaited Horse and the Bridle Trail Associations. The Washington State Horse Park Authority was formed as a non-profit corporation; the board is responsible for developing, promoting, operating, managing, and maintaining the state horse park.

Indeterminate Sentencing Review Board
Dennis Thaut of Stanwood has been appointed to a term effective May 1, 2005 ending April 30, 2011. Thaut began his career in 1974 as a probation and parole officer and after a distinguished career including administrator for the southwest region, associate superintendent for Monroe Correctional Complex, retired as regional administrator for the Northwest Region of the Department of Corrections. The Indeterminate Sentencing Review Board determines the duration of confinement and parole release of all state prisoners sentenced prior to the Sentencing Reform Act of 1984.
