"I invite all Washingtonians to join me and my family to honor the memory of former President Gerald R. Ford. His leadership and love for his country have had a lasting impact on this nation and he will be missed.

"President Ford helped to heal the nation after a tumultuous time and his humility and kindness earned him the respect of many Americans. He was admired by both domestic and international leaders, making diplomacy and international relationships a priority of his administration.
