Governor Gregoire: Washingtonians Benefit from Sales Tax Deduction

OLYMPIA � Governor Chris Gregoire today commended the Washington congressional delegation for supporting federal legislation that will allow Washingtonians to deduct state and local sales tax from their federal income tax.

�I appreciate the leadership of the entire Washington congressional delegation, especially Congressman Baird and Senator Cantwell, on legislation that will allow Washingtonians to deduct from their federal income taxes the sales tax they have paid throughout the year.

�They worked across party lines to ensure that Washingtonians are treated fairly and I applaud their work to make this deduction permanent.�
