OLYMPIA � Gov. Chris Gregoire made the following statement today in response to the announcement that Sen. Ed Murray has been elected Senate majority leader:

�Congratulations to Sen. Ed Murray in his new role as majority leader. For years, I have worked very closely with Ed on the state budget, marriage equality and civil rights. I know he has the skills and the experience to be a great leader as the Senate debates the critical issues of the coming legislative session. With Ed at the helm, the people of Washington will be well served.�
