Gov. Gregoire�s statement on appointment of Bill Basl to AmeriCorps Director

OLYMPIA � Gov. Chris Gregoire today issued the following statement on the announcement that Bill Basl has been appointed as AmeriCorps Director by The Corporation for National and Community Service. Basl has served for the past 18 years as the executive director of the Washington Commission for National and Community Service in Washington state:

�While I�m sorry to see Bill leave us for the other Washington, I am thrilled for him and even more thrilled for the 80,000 AmeriCorps members he will help lead. For the past eighteen years Bill has served our state well and has made volunteerism and community service a way of life for thousands of Washingtonians. From veterans to young adults, Bill knows how to engage people in service that makes an impact in both their lives and in the lives of the people with whom they work.�
