Gov. Gregoire�s statement on arrest made in Spokane bomb investigation

OLYMPIA � Gov. Chris Gregoire today issued the following statement on the arrest of a suspect in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day attempted bombing:

�The FBI�s Joint Terrorism Task Force, which includes regional law enforcement and the Washington State Patrol, has worked collaboratively and diligently in leading the way on this investigation. Today�s arrest of a suspect is the result of their work and will help to ultimately bring answers to this case.

�I again want to commend the three workers who reported the suspicious backpack to authorities, and the law enforcement officers who responded. In my briefing with Mayor Verner and local law enforcement last month, it was clear that when the emergency response system was put to a test, it worked as it should have and prevented what could have been a terrible tragedy on a day of celebration.�
