Gov. Gregoires statement on Small Business Jobs and Credit Act

For Immediate Release: September 27, 2010

OLYMPIA Gov. Chris Gregoire released the following statement applauding President Obama for signing the Small Business Jobs and Credit Act into law:

Signing this legislation into law is great news for small business owners in Washington state, and an encouraging step to help our economic recovery. Small business growth is the key to pulling our state and nation out of the worst economic times in 80 years, and this legislation provides much needed support and incentives to help small businesses grow and hire.

While this legislation includes several incentives to encourage job growth, Im particularly pleased that the final bill includes a new Small Business Lending Fund, which is something I advocated for and ensures our small business owners have easier access to much needed capital. Following my successful trade mission to Asia, Im also proud this legislation provides new tools to help small businesses export their products through the new State Export Promotion Grant Program.

I applaud President Obama, as well as our states Congressional delegation for their commitment and work to aid our economic recovery. At this difficult time for our country, its essential that we keep up the fight for every job, and provide the necessary resources to ensure our small businesses succeed and expand.
