Gov. Gregoire�s statement applauding Congress on comprehensive energy and climate legislation

OLYMPIA � Gov. Chris Gregoire released the following statement today on the U.S. House of Representatives� passage of federal energy and climate legislation:

�This legislation will serve generations to come by promoting clean sources of energy and reducing America�s dependence on foreign oil. It tells the rest of the world that the United States is willing to lead the transition to clean energy and in responding to the global threat of climate change.

�I extend my congratulations and thanks to the Obama administration, and to the U.S. House of Representatives, for their vision and strength in moving the United States closer to truly harnessing a clean energy future. In particular, I thank Washington�s Congressional representatives who voted to move the bill forward: U.S. Reps. Brian Baird, Norm Dicks, Jay Inslee, Rick Larsen, Jim McDermott, Dave Reichert, and Adam Smith.�
