Gov. Gregoire�s statement on new direct SeaTac-Iceland flight

OLYMPIA � Gov. Chris Gregoire today released the following statement on Icelandair�s announcement that it will soon add a direct flight from SeaTac International Airport to Reykjavik, Iceland:

�This is great news for the state of Washington. This new direct flight will further the development of trade and tourism between not only Washington and Iceland, but all of Europe. In promoting international trade, I have always considered it very important to establish more international flights to cities all over the world to expand our trade and tourism opportunities, which helps our efforts to create and maintain jobs.

�At a time when many airlines are struggling, it is encouraging to learn Sea-Tac is attracting new flights that may open new doors for commerce in Washington state.�
