Gov. Gregoire�s statement on Medicaid recovery funds

OLYMPIA � Gov. Chris Gregoire today issued the following statement on Medicaid funds from the federal economic recovery:

�I am pleased that the federal government is beginning to send recovery funds to Washington through the Medicaid program. The first installment of $339.4 million for Washington state is designated for the state�s current budget year. These funds will provide for increased federal assistance for the state�s Medicaid program which offers medical coverage for low income citizens.

�We appreciate the work of Congress and President Barack Obama to pass the recovery plan and start dollars flowing quickly to the states.�
