The Washington Territorial Legislature created Skagit County on November 28, 1883 from Whatcom County. It was named in honor of the Skagit Native American tribe. It is located in the northwestern part of the state and stretches from the Puget Sound on the west of the Cascade Mountains on the east.

All records are in English.
