These records include both index and images of the birth register filed with the San Juan County Auditor between June 1891 and August 1907. There are a few birth registrations from 1878, 1881, 1886, and 1890.
For the best search results, search by parents’ names. Search by either last name, first and last name, or just the first letter of the last name. Please note mother’s last name will be her maiden name. Learn about the documentation of birth records in Washington and what information is found in a birth register or birth return by selecting the tab that says "About this Collection” here The Washington Territorial Legislature created San Juan County on October 13, 1873 from Whatcom County. It is named after the largest island, San Juan, found within the San Juan Archipelago. Lieutenant Juan Francisco de Eliza named the island in honor of the Catholic Saint San Juan Bautista. The county is the states’ smallest in area is made up of a small cluster of islands located east of Vancouver Island in Puget Sound. All records are in English. These records are open for research.
