Central Washington University
Owned Facilities by County - 1997-99
|
Capital Overview
Central Washington University (CWU) was established in 1890 and
is one of the three regional institutions offering baccalaureate
and graduate degrees. At present, CWU serves about 7,300 students
at its Ellensburg campus. A total of over 50 buildings support
instructional, administrative, student and public service, and
support functions of the institution. Nearly 30 residence buildings
house students on campus. The buildings range in age from nearly
new to 100 years old.
Statewide enrollment projections indicate a need to provide additional
student access to higher education facilities. While the University's
classroom capacity is adequate for such an increase, both laboratory
and office space will need significant renovation and renewal
over the decade. Five major buildings housing lab-intensive instruction
and are now between 20 and 30 years old.
Capital Plan Highlights
- The 1997-99 capital plan includes funds for infrastructure
and other preservation projects throughout the campus.
