Gov. Locke invites Washingtonians to contribute to New York State World Trade Center Relief Fund

OLYMPIA – Gov. Gary Locke today invited Washingtonians who wish to support the World Trade Center emergency response and victim support effort to make a contribution to the New York State World Trade Center Relief Fund.

“My heart goes out to all the victims of the senseless terrorist attacks against the United States of America,” Locke said. “I urge everyone to keep the families and friends of the victims and rescue workers in their thoughts and prayers. I also encourage people to make donations to help with the recovery from these terrible events.”

“Americans are a brave and decent and generous people,” the governor added. “And I know our contributions will be further testament to the American spirit. The financial help we give to our fellow citizens will demonstrate our resolve to emerge from such catastrophe even stronger, more determined and united.”

“The outpouring of donations from across New York and throughout the nation has been truly inspiring," Gov. George Pataki said. “We have established the New York State World Trade Center Relief Fund to help accommodate these donations and I urge all those who wish to contribute to contact our new toll-free donation hotline or send a donation through the mail.”

Locke and Pataki encourage all those wishing to donate funds to contact (800) 801-8092, or send donations to the New York State World Trade Center Relief Fund, P.O. Box 5028, Albany, New York 12205. Contributors who call the toll-free hotline may encounter heavy call volume and are encouraged to be patient as they make their donations over the phone.
