Locke fills several state posts

OLYMPIA - Gov. Gary Locke today announced appointments to the Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission, Podiatric Medical Board, Examining Board of Psychology, Public Employees' Benefits Board, Marine Employees' Commission and the Housing Finance Commission.


Locke appointed three members to the Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission. Roberta Schott is an anesthesia assistant for a physician in Wenatchee. Frank Maziarsk, of Shoreline, has a private practice as a nurse anesthetist and Jeni Fung, of Mercer Island, is a retired deputy director for the Clinical Nurses Scholars Program at the University of Washington.


The commission regulates the competency and quality of nursing care professionals. All terms expire June 30, 2001.


Lisa Richesson, of Seattle, was appointed to the Examining Board of Psychology. Richesson is a project specialist for Group Health Cooperative. The board examines candidates for licensure. Her term expires January 6, 2002.


Maureen McLaughlin, a former PacifiCare of Washington executive from Seattle, was appointed to the Public Employees' Benefits Board. The board designs and approves benefits plans for state employees and retirees. Her term expires October 1, 1999.


Locke also reappointed John Sullivan, of Bellevue, to the Marine Employees' Commission. Cynthia Fenberg, of Tacoma, to the Podiatric Medical Board. Karen Miller, of Everett, and Lee Lannoye, of Seattle, were reappointed to the Housing Finance Commission.
