Locke announces finalists for Snohomish County judicial post

OLYMPIA - Gov. Gary Locke announced today that he has narrowed the search for a Snohomish County Superior Court appointee to four people.

The finalists for the position are George N. Bowden, Charles L. French, Drew T. Nielsen and Jettfrey L. Whitmer. These four were selected from a group of 16 applicants who were interviewed by the Governor's general counsel.

In selecting judges, Locke, who places a very high priority on appointing the most outstanding judicial applicants to the bench, generally looks for highly respected members of the bar with a broad base of experience and good judicial demeanor and temperament. These four finalists meet those criteria and are now being scheduled for meetings with Locke over the next couple of weeks. The Governor will carefully consider all the available information before making a final decision on the appointment.
