Locke appoints eastern and southwest Washington representatives

OLYMPIA - Gov. Gary Locke named his regional representatives today for eastern and southwest Washington.


Elisabeth Wahlers will be Locke's regional representative in Vancouver and Mary Ann McCurdy will head up the regional office in Spokane.


"I am extremely pleased to have these outstanding individuals as part of my administration," Locke said. "Both Mary Ann and Elisabeth share my commitment to keeping in touch with the people of our state instead of just running state government out of Olympia."


Mary Ann McCurdy, a Spokane resident, has been a realtor with the Tomlinson-Black Co. in Spokane for ten years. McCurdy also is a member of Community Partners, a group appointed by Spokane Mayor Jack Geraghty to gather citizen input to help review the Spokane City Charter. McCurdy also served on the governmental affairs committee for the Spokane Association of Realtors and the citizens committee to study the Lewis and Clark High School building facility.

Elisabeth Wahlers of Vancouver has worked as a special assistant to the auditor for Clark County since August 1996. Previously, she was a staff assistant for U.S. Sen. Patty Murray in Vancouver and was a campaign manager for the committee to re-elect State Rep. Kim Peery.
