Gov. Locke to visit central Washington

OLYMPIA - Gov. Gary Locke will visit Yakima and the Tri-Cities on Wednesday, Feb. 19.

Locke's visit to central Washington is the second of many stops throughout the state he plans to do during his term. Last month Locke met with residents in Vancouver.

Locke said he is committed to keeping in touch with residents from across the state. "It's too easy to get cloistered here in Olympia. We constantly need to reach out and understand what's on the minds of people in communities throughout our state."

During his trip to central Washington Locke will test water quality with students in Yakima, visit a bilingual education program in Pasco, tour Washington State University's branch campus in Richland and hold town hall meetings in Yakima and Pasco.

On Friday, Feb. 21, Locke will travel to Wenatchee.
