Statement from Gov. Gary Locke on applying I-200

Olympia – "As you know, I opposed Initiative 200. But it passed on Tuesday. So we have formed an advisory group to look at the procedures and practices in all of our state agencies and the issue of affirmative action.

"We will enforce the new law.

" We will apply the new law fairly. But we will also hold the supporters of Initiative 200 to their word. They assured us that I-200 would not affect recruitment and outreach programs. So those will continue."
