Locke names new Liquor Control Board member

OLYMPIA — Gov. Gary Locke today announced his appointment of Vera Chan-Ing to fill the remainder of an unexpired term on the Liquor Control Board (LCB). The LCB controls and distributes alcohol in Washington, functioning as both a regulatory board and a business.

Vera Chan-Ing, of Seattle, is currently the principal in charge of marketing, interior design/programming and public relations for Ing & Associates, a division of Mulvanny Architects. She will start on Dec. 13, and her term ends Jan. 15, 2001. Ing's salary will be $70,871.

Chan-Ing will replace Jessie Farias, who resigned Nov. 1, 1999.

The LCB consists of three members appointed by the governor. Board members serve six-year terms and must be confirmed by the state Senate.
