Brydon leaves Liquor Control Board; joins Board of Tax Appeals

OLYMPIA – Charlie Brydon, currently a member of the State Liquor Control Board, will resign from the LCB to accept a position on the Board of Tax Appeals starting mid-November. Brydon will be replacing Larry Kenney, who will be retiring from the Board of Tax Appeals.

Gov. Gary Locke said Brydon, age 60, has been a tremendous asset to the Liquor Control Board, and is confident he will make significant contributions serving on the Board of Tax Appeals.

"Charlie has worked extremely hard and we are fortunate to have had his years of service as a member of the state Liquor Control Board," Locke said.

Before serving on the LCB, Brydon was president of Brydon Insurance Services, Inc., an agency that focused on providing insurance for nonprofit organizations and the personal insurance market. He also previously was Co-Executive Director of the National Gay Task Force. Brydon also served in Vietnam and was twice awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service.

As an LCB member, Brydon worked with a local community group in Seattle to address the issue of chronic public inebriation.

Brydon's term on the Board of Tax Appeals will end on March 1, 2005. He will receive an annual salary of $70,871. This position is subject to confirmation by the Senate.
