Locke names trustees to community college boards

OLYMPIA - Gov. Gary Locke today announced appointments to the boards of trustees of various community colleges throughout the state.

College Board of Trustees

The board of trustees is the governing body of the college.

Judy Guenther, of Centralia, was re-appointed to the Centralia College, Board of Trustees. Guenther is president of the Trustees Association of Community and Technical Colleges.

Wayne J. Martin, of Richland, was appointed to the Columbia Basin College, Board of Trustees. Martin is an environmental scientist and technical group manager at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.

Betty McInturff, of Spokane, was re-appointed to the Community Colleges of Spokane, Board of Trustees. McInturff is the former president of a grant-funding consultant business.

Ronald S. Howell, of Edmonds, was appointed to the Edmonds Community College, Board of Trustees. Howell is president of the Washington Research Foundation.

Ann C. Mottet, of Longview, was re-appointed to the Lower Columbia College, Board of Trustees. Mottet is a private practice attorney.

Karen Gates-Hildt, of Port Townsend, was re-appointed to the Peninsula College, Board of Trustees. Gates-Hildt is private practice attorney.

Donald V. Rhodes, of Olympia, was re-appointed to the South Puget Sound Community College, Board of Trustees. Rhodes is the chairman, president, and chief executive officer of a bank.

Kayleen Bye, of Pomeroy, was re-appointed to the Walla Walla Community College, Board of Trustees. Bye is a registered nurse at a community clinic in Pomeroy.

James E. Wilson, of Bellingham, was re-appointed to the Whatcom Community College, Board of Trustees. Wilson is a retired engineer.

Douglas D. Peters, of Selah, was re-appointed to the Yakima Valley Community College, Board of Trustees. Peters is an attorney, partner and president of a local law firm.

All terms begin Oct. 1, 2000 and expire Sept. 30, 2005, except for Howell, whose term begins on Nov. 1, 2000
