Gov. and Mrs. Locke have a baby boy

SEATTLE — Gov. Gary Locke and First Lady Mona Lee Locke are the parents of a boy, born today at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle at 12:15 p.m.

Gov. Locke reported that Mrs. Locke feels fine, and that the baby is healthy.

His name is Dylan James Locke. He weighed 5 lbs., 11 oz. at birth and was 19 ¾ inches long.

The baby was delivered early. Mrs. Locke's due date was March 23.

"Mona and I are thrilled to have a healthy baby, and we are thrilled to have a boy. We cannot wait to return to Olympia and show Emily her baby brother. We talked to her on the phone after her brother was born, and she is already practicing his name. We appreciate the interest and best wishes of everyone who has contacted us."

The Lockes expect to bring their baby home to Olympia early next week.
