Locke appoints Diane Woolard to Clark County Superior Court

SEATTLE - Gov. Gary Locke today named Diane Woolard to the newly-created eighth position on the Clark County Superior Court.

In announcing the appointment, Locke said, "Diane is clearly ready for the job - she is intelligent, respected by her colleagues, capable and shows no signs of letting up. She is ready to step right in and get to work on the business of the court."

Woolard, 55, is a private practice attorney in Vancouver, specializing in family law and criminal defense. She served as a former assistant attorney general, Clark County deputy prosecutor and substitute city attorney for Battle Ground. Prior to law school, Woolard worked as a caseworker for the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services.

Besides her numerous bar association activities, Woolard is active in the Women in Action and Washington Women Lawyers organizations. She also refereed for the Columbia River Soccer Association.

Woolard attended Wenatchee Valley College, University of Washington and Eastern Washington University. She earned her law degree from Northwestern School of Law at Lewis and Clark College.

Woolard will begin her new position on July 1, and the post carries an annual salary of $108,300.
