Washington State offers new online pathways to county, city and tribal data

OLYMPIA - The Washington State Office of Financial Management has created two new pathways giving citizens, businesses, local governments and Indian tribes easy online access to official data about communities across the state.

As part of Gov. Gary Locke's initiative to use technology and the Internet to build "a groundbreaking relationship between citizens and government," OFM redesigned its Internet website to make it more customer-friendly.

Colorful, clickable maps now provide a quick entry point to a wealth of information:

The new County and City Information "Local Data Links" feature lets website users click on a map for population, economic and financial data for counties and cities. The information is reachable from several pages on the OFM site, or by this direct link: www.ofm.wa.gov/localdata/index.htm.

From a new Information for Tribal Government page, you're just a click away from population and housing information from the most recent United States census (1990) for each of the tribal reservations in Washington. Here's a direct link to the reservation data: www.ofm.wa.gov/reservation/index.htm.

OFM offers these services as part of its mandate to collect and manage population, economic and financial data about Washington State.

Visitors to the homepage can now find customer-access buttons designed for the following kinds of users: citizens, businesses, state agencies, local government, tribal government and people needing special studies and reports. The website address is: www.ofm.wa.gov.

Have a comment? Users of the OFM site are invited to send comments or suggestions via electronic message to the Webmaster at this address: [email protected].
