Locke names students to college boards of trustees and regents

OLYMPIA — Gov. Gary Locke today announced the student selections for college boards of trustees and boards of regents.

College Board of Trustees/Board of Regents
The board is the governing body of the college.

Vagmayi, formerly known as Marilyn Martinez, of Olympia, was appointed to The Evergreen State College, Board of Trustees. Martinez is studying social sciences. She has volunteered for the Hospice of Puyallup and Good Samaritan Hospital.

John W. Amaya, of Seattle, was appointed to the University of Washington, Board of Regents. Amaya is pursuing an undergraduate degree in political science. He is also the director of the university's La Raza Commission.

Kristina Miles, of Tacoma, was appointed to the Western Washington University, Board of Trustees. Miles is a junior studying political science and environmental studies. She is also the secretary of the university's residence hall association.

Shawnte' Pearson, of South Colby, was appointed to the Central Washington University, Board of Trustees. Pearson is a junior working on her degree in communications. She also a residence hall building manager.

Kelly Behne, of Coulee City, was appointed to the Eastern Washington University, Board of Trustees. Behne is a junior majoring in outdoor recreation. She is a community advisor in a residence hall.

All terms expire May 31, 2001
