Locke names citizens to various boards and commissions

OLYMPIA - Gov. Gary Locke today announced his selections for college boards of regents, the Gambling Commission and other state boards and commissions.

College Board of Regents

The board is the governing body of the college.

Matthew Moore, of Ephrata, was appointed to the Washington State University, Board of Regents. Moore is a junior majoring in finance. His term expires May 31, 2001.

Gambling Commission

The commission licenses, inspects, investigates and audits organizations, businesses and individuals participating in authorized gambling activities.

Alan R. Parker, of Olympia, is a professor at The Evergreen State College. He is also the director of the Northwest Indian Applied Research Institute. His term expires June 30, 2003.

State Independent Living Advisory Council

The council advises and assists the state on issues and policies relating to independent living for individuals with disabilities.

Beverly Casey, of Pasco, is a counselor at the Columbia Basin College Women's Resource Center.

Kathleen Coster, of Spokane, is a counselor at CORD (Coalition of Responsible Disabled).

Jill Foster, of University Place, is the workers' compensation manager for The Boeing Company.

Ronald Fredrickson, of Kent, is a volunteer at the Washington Talking Book and Braille Library.

Barbara Lindley, of Spokane, is a board member of the Northwest Justice Project.

Sarajane Siegfriedt, of Seattle, is the manager of the disability resource center for the Washington Coalition of Citizens with Disabilities.

All terms expire Sept. 24, 2002, except Coster and Siegfriedt, whose terms expire Sept. 24, 2000.

Washington Commission for National and Community Service

The commission provides leadership with local volunteer organizations, civic and community groups and local governments to make service a part of the lives of all Washingtonians.

Michael Eklund-Grayum, of Mill Creek, is a student at Pacific Lutheran University. He worked as a legislative intern for the Washington State House of Representatives during the 2000 Legislative session. His term expires Feb. 15, 2002.

Jasmin Weaver, of Seattle, is a student at the University of Washington. She worked as a legislative intern in the Washington State Senate for the 2000 Legislative session. Her term expires Feb. 15, 2003.

Washington Economic Development Finance Authority

The authority helps small and medium-sized businesses meet their capital needs.

Nathaniel D. Greene, of Spokane, is the president and owner of the Empire Ford automobile dealership. His term expires Oct. 19, 2003.

Jan R. Romerdahl, of Liberty Lake, is a vice president and manager for US Bank. Her term expires Oct. 19, 2001.

Jail Industries Board

The board helps local jail programs develop, implement and maintain jail work programs.

Andre Loh, of Mercer Island, is the associate dean for the basic studies division of Seattle Central Community College.

Randy Loomans, of Olympia, is the education and safety director for the Washington State Labor Council.

Julie Wilson, of Olympia, is the WorkFirst community jobs manager for the Washington State Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development.

All terms expire Feb. 15, 2003.

Massage Examining Board

The board defines, evaluates, approves, and designates schools, programs and apprenticeship programs; periodically reviews approved schools and programs; determines which states have educational licensing requirements equivalent to Washington; and establishes the standards and procedures for approving courses of study.


Edward Hulbert, Jr., of Olympia, is owner, practitioner and manager of a neuromuscular massage therapy clinic. His term expires Sept. 7, 2003.
