Locke makes selections for state boards and commissions

OLYMPIA - Gov. Gary Locke today announced appointments for several boards and commissions.

Eastern Washington University, Board of Trustees
The board of trustees is the governing body of Eastern Washington University.

Kris Mikkelsen, of Spokane, currently works for Inland Power & Light and Ines Zozaya-Geist, of Kennewick, is a former senior consultant for Lockheed Martin Services Inc. Both terms expire Sept. 30, 2006.

Emergency Medical Services / Trauma Care Steering Committee
The committee reviews the requirements for pre-hospital emergency and ambulance services throughout the state.

David Byrnes, of Spokane, Salud S. Villas, of Chehalis, Eleanore Nelson, of Royal City, William R. Hinkle, of Cle Elum, and Michael C. Summer, of Burien have been appointed to the committee. All terms expire Aug. 15, 2003.

Sam R. Shara, of Seattle, currently works for Harborview Medical Center. His term expires Aug. 15, 2003.

Governor's Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee
The committee implements the federal juvenile justice and delinquency prevention act, which provides funds to states to improve the juvenile justice system.

Jonathon Steinman, of Aberdeen, currently works as an intern for the 6th Congressional office in Tacoma. His term expires July 1, 2004.

Fire Protection Policy Board
The board sets policy on fire-protection matters for the state.

Mark Kahley, of University Place, currently works as the division manager for resource protection at the Washington Department of Natural Resources. His term expires April 15, 2004.

Sentencing Guidelines Commission
The commission evaluates state sentencing policy for both the adult criminal justice system and the juvenile justice system.

The Honorable Deborah Moore, of Moses Lake, currently works as a Grant County Commissioner. Her term expires Aug. 2, 2003.

Apprenticeship and Training Council
The council approves apprenticeship standards for the various trades, crafts and occupations.

Susan Wilder Crane, of Seattle, currently works for the Office of Port JOBS as the executive director. Her term expires Feb. 21, 2004.

Examining Board of Psychology
The board examines candidates for licensure for the state.

Dr. Jan G. Bacon, of Steilacoom, currently works as a clinical psychologist. Her term ends Jan. 6, 2003.

Raymond L. Harry, of Olympia, currently serves as a volunteer member of the AARP Capitol City Task Force. His term expires Jan. 6, 2006.

Dr. W. Douglas Uhl, of Bellingham, currently is the co-owner of Verry-Uhl Associates. His term expires Jan. 6, 2006.

Developmental Disabilities Endowment Fund
The board is responsible for designing and administering the developmental disabilities endowment.

Phillip Ruggles, of Spokane, Margaret-Lee Thompson, of Redmond and Ron Meltzer, of Seattle have been appointed to the board. All terms expire March 15, 2005.
