Gov. Locke's statement on the death of Des Moines police officer

"I'm shocked and horrified at the unnecessary violence that ended the life of a young police officer doing his duty in Des Moines this morning. It also has taken a husband and father from a family.

"My heart goes out to his wife and son and I call upon the Des Moines community and the state of Washington to rally around this family and support it in every possible way."
