Gov. Gary Locke’s Statement on Microsoft Jobs Announcement

Gov. Gary Locke today issued the following statement on the announcement by Microsoft that it plans to hire 6,000 to 7,000 employees worldwide during the coming year – including 3,000 people in the Puget Sound region:

“This is great news for the Puget Sound region and for Microsoft! These are good-paying jobs that will also support other businesses in the area as employees shop in malls, eat in restaurants and remodel their homes.

“These jobs, along with the 2,000 to 3,000 jobs that The Boeing Company plans to add in the region by year’s end, are further proof that our state’s economy is recovering faster than the national economy.”
