Gov. Gary Locke Announces Appointments to Boards and Commissions

OLYMPIA – June 7, 2004 – Gov. Gary Locke today announced the following appointments to state boards and commissions:

Affordable Housing Advisory Board

Christine Walsh Rogers of Seattle has been appointed to a term ending Jan. 26, 2008. Walsh Rogers is vice president, senior product manager for Washington Mutual Bank. The Affordable Housing Advisory Board serves as principal advisory body to the Department of Community Trade and Economic Development on housing and housing-related issues.

Board of Nursing Home Administrators

Mely Davenport of Wapato has been appointed to a term ending May 28, 2008. Mely is a nurse executive at Emerald Circle Convalescent Center.

Susan E Quigley of Seattle has been appointed to a term ending May 28, 2009. Quigley is the administrator/executive director of Pacific Regent. The Board of Nursing Home Administrators administers licensure or registration process for nursing home administrators.

Governor’s Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS

E. John Valliant of Tacoma has been appointed to a term ending June 30, 2005. Valliant is a health services consultant with the Department of Health.

Tina Podlodowski of Seattle has been appointed to a term ending June 30, 2007. Podlodowski is executive director of Lifelong AIDS Alliance. The Governor’s Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS advises the Governor on HIV/AIDS related programs and policy.

Governor’s Affirmative Action Policy Committee

Dondra Lopez of Olympia has been appointed to a term ending May 31, 2005. Lopez is a psychology student at St. Martin’s College. The Governor’s Affirmative Action Policy Committee serves as a policy and review body for the state’s affirmative action program and reviews and approves state agency affirmative action plans.

Jail Industries Board

Sean Morrow of Spokane has been appointed to a term ending Feb. 15, 2007. Morrow is a network technician with Qwest Communications. The Jail Industries Board offers advice to cities and counties in developing, promoting and implementing consistent, safe and efficient offender work programs.

Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission

Martha Herriott of Tacoma has been appointed to a term ending June 30, 2005. Herriott practices adult psychiatric nursing. The Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission regulates the competency and quality of nursing care professionals by establishing, monitoring and enforcing qualifications for licensing, consistent standards of practice, continuing competency mechanisms, and discipline.

State Employees Combined Fund Drive

Tom Haines of Shoreline has been reappointed to a term ending date of Jan. 1, 2007. The State Employee Combined Fund Drive board determines which agencies engaged in charitable and public health, welfare and service purposes shall participate in one annual combined effort to secure funds from state employees through payroll deduction or other payment methods and establishes the polices necessary to collect and distribute the funds.

State Interagency Coordinating Council for Infants and Toddlers with Disabilities and Their Families

Katherine A. TeKolste of Mercer Island has been reappointed to a term ending Jan. 6, 2006. Karen Lindsay of Moses Lake and Susan Sandall of Seahurst have been reappointed to terms ending Jan. 6, 2007. The State Interagency Coordinating Council for Infants and Toddlers with Disabilities and Their Families advises and assists the Department of Social and Health Services and participating state agencies to coordinate, develop and implement policies dealing with early-intervention services.

Washington Council for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect

Ruth Garner of Port Ludlow has been appointed to a term ending June 30, 2006. Garner is a registered nurse and has 7 years experience as Guardian Ad Litem in Juvenile and Domestic Court. The Washington Council for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect is responsible for contracting to establish community-based educational and service programs aimed at preventing child abuse and neglect; assisting with the exchange of information; consulting with state agencies; establishing the Children’s Trust Fund; and adopting necessary and appropriate rules.
