Gov. Locke's statement on AWB press conference

"I am heartened by today's call from our state's business leaders to act now on transportation efficiency reforms as well as a transportation plan to fix Washington's traffic mess. Business leaders know as well as I do that an efficient statewide transportation system will be critical to continue our efforts to recruit and hold top companies in the state.

"That is just one of the reasons why I proposed a 10-year, $17.2 billion transportation plan to keep Washington moving. As I have said all along, however, the Legislature must first take action on the proposed reforms recommended by the Blue Ribbon Commission on Transportation. I commend the Legislature for the progress being made passing these reforms, but our work is not done.

"We must work together to pass the remaining reforms and then act on my transportation proposal."
