Gov. Gary Locke Announces Appointments to College and University Boards

Gov. Gary Locke today announced the following appointments to college and university boards:

Bellevue Community College Board of Trustees

Paul Chiles of Bellevue has been appointed to a term ending Sept. 30, 2008. Chiles is the president of Chiles & Company, Inc. Commercial Real Estate Services.

RuthAnn Kurose of Mercer Island has been reappointed to a term ending Sept. 30, 2007.

Bellingham Technical College Board of Trustees

Sonia Arevalo-Hayes of Ferndale has been appointed to a term ending Sept. 30, 2008. Arevalo-Hayes is the senior assistant director on the Office of Student Life at Western Washington University.

Columbia Basin College Board of Trustees

Salvador Beltran, Jr. of Pasco has been appointed to a term ending Sept. 30, 2006. Beltran is a former vice principal of Pasco High School.

R. Gary Culbert of Pasco has been appointed to a term ending Sept. 30, 2004. Culbert is a retired dean from Columbia Basin College.

Eastern Washington University Board of Trustees

JoAnn Kauffman of Spokane has been appointed to a term ending Sept. 30, 2009. Kauffman is owner and chief executive officer of Kauffman and Associates, Inc., a public interest consulting firm.


The Evergreen State College Board of Trustees

Claudia Kauffman Redmorningstar of Kent has been appointed to a term ending Sept. 30, 2007. Redmorningstar is the intergovernmental affairs liaison for the Muckelshoot Indian Tribe.

Green River Community College Board of Trustees

Sherry Gates of Kent has been appointed to a term ending Sept. 30, 2007. Gates currently serves on the Green River Community College Foundation Board.

Shoreline Community College Board of Trustees

Jeffrey Lewis of Shoreline has been appointed to a term ending Sept. 30, 2006. Lewis is the president and CEO of Shoreline Bank.

Skagit Valley College Board of Trustees

Debra Lisser of Mt. Vernon has been appointed to a term ending Sept. 30, 2008. Lisser is a professional volunteer in the Skagit Valley.

Wenatchee Valley College Board of Trustees

Darlene Wilder of Nespelem has been appointed to a term ending Sept. 30, 2007. Wilder is a home school liaison for Keller School District.

Yakima Valley Community College Board of Trustees

Lisa Parker of Zillah has been appointed to a term ending Sept. 30, 2006. Parker is a music teacher in the Wapato School District.

Velma Perez of Yakima has been appointed to a term ending Sept. 30, 2008. Perez is the owner and operator of Perez Insurance.
