Gov. Gary Locke today issued the following statement on the decision by The Boeing Company to move forward with the 7E7 and locate final assembly of the new jetliner in Everett:

“Congratulations to The Boeing Company in committing to the 7E7 Dreamliner. This is an exciting and decisive step forward for Boeing Commercial Airplanes and the future of commercial air travel.

“Congratulations to all the members of our unprecedented ‘Action Washington’ team for submitting the most creative, compelling and economical proposal to Boeing to build the 7E7. Our tireless efforts proved to be an unparalleled success.

“This should be a sign to companies all around the world that Washington is open for business in a way we never have been before.

“Our state was united in our proposal of two extremely suitable sites for this project – Everett and Moses Lake. By selecting Washington, Boeing has made the best choice for its future.

“Working together, we will awaken the world to Dreamliner flight, and introduce a new era in commercial aviation.”
