Gov. Gary Locke Announces Appointment to Pollution Control and Shorelines Hearings Boards

Gov. Gary Locke today announced the appointment of Bill Clarke of Olympia to the Pollution Control and Shorelines Hearings Boards.

Clarke will serve on the board for a term ending June 30, 2008. He was most recently an attorney with Mentor Law Group, PLLC in Seattle, specializing in natural resource matters. He previously worked in government relations for the Washington Association of Realtors and Northwest Marine Trade Association.

He is a native of Auburn, Wash., and received his bachelor’s degree from Whitman College in Walla Walla and his law degree from the University of Montana in Missoula.

The Pollution Control Hearings Board hears appeals from orders and decisions made by the Department of Ecology and other agencies. The board is not affiliated with the Department of Ecology or any other state agency.

Members of the Pollution Control Hearings Board also serve on the Shorelines Hearings Board. The Shorelines Hearings Board hears appeals of shoreline permit decisions and shoreline penalties.

Clarke will receive an annual salary of $83,738.
