Gov. Gary Locke Announces Appointments to Outdoor Recreation Committee and Electrical Board

Gov. Gary Locke today announced the appointments of Val Ogden of Vancouver to the Interagency Committee (IAC) for Outdoor Recreation and Philip Parker of Vancouver to the Electrical Board. Locke also reappointed David Bowman of Spokane, Jim Simmons of Tacoma, and Gloria Ashford of Woodinville to the Electrical Board.

Ogden will serve on the IAC for Outdoor Recreation for a term ending Dec. 31, 2005. She retired from the state House of Representatives in 2002 after serving for 12 years. She served on the Blue Ribbon Parks and Recreation Task Force, and she has been a board member for the Council for the Homeless, Clark County Mental Health Advisory Board, Human Services Council and Low-Income Housing Board.

The IAC for Outdoor Recreation fosters the protection and enhancement of Washington's natural and outdoor recreation resources.

Parker will serve on the Electrical Board for a term ending July 7, 2007. He has more than 30 years experience as a journeyman wireman with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). He has also served as an instructor in the IBEW/National Electrical Contractors Association apprenticeship program.

The Electrical Board prepares and administers electrical contractors’ examinations and advises the Department of Labor and Industries on adoption of rules and standards for electrical installations and inspections.

Bowman, Simmons and Ashford were reappointed to the Electrical Board for terms ending July 7, 2007. Bowman and Simmons were first appointed July 10, 2000, and Ashford on July 10, 2002.
