Statement from Governor’s Office Regarding Possible Tax Incentive Proposals for Boeing 7E7

OLYMPIA – June 6, 2003 – The Governor’s Office today released the following statement regarding possible tax incentive proposals to The Boeing Company in an effort to land the 7E7 final assembly in Washington state:

“Gov. Locke is still reviewing several proposals regarding possible tax incentives for The Boeing Company as part of the state’s effort to win final assembly of the 7E7. No decisions have been made regarding these proposals.

“The governor is planning to meet with legislative leadership over the next several days to further discuss details of the proposals.

“Locke is also urging legislators, business and labor to continue talks on both unemployment insurance and injured workers’ compensation reform, and hopefully come to agreement before the end of special session on Tuesday, June 10.

“Action Washington continues to develop the state’s aggressive, creative proposal on why Boeing should choose Washington for final assembly of the 7E7.”
