Gov. Gary Locke's Statement on UW President Richard McCormick

OLYMPIA – Oct. 25, 2002 – Gov. Gary Locke today issued the following statement on University of Washington President Richard McCormick’s plans to assume the presidency of Rutgers University:

“Clearly, we’re sad to lose such a strong advocate for higher education, but I know that Richard has close personal and family ties to Rutgers University.

“Richard leaves behind a legacy of leadership and dedication to higher education, and it is because of that leadership that the University of Washington is one of the top research and learning institutions in the nation.”
