Gov. Locke’s Statement on D.C. Sniper Links to Washington State

Gov. Gary Locke today issued the following statement on the apparent Washington state links to the D.C. sniper attacks:

“Clearly, I’m concerned about the apparent links between the D.C. sniper attacks and our state, but I’m encouraged that two people of interest have been arrested in this case. Hopefully, those responsible for these heinous crimes have been apprehended and the killings will stop.

“Like all Americans, I’ve watched this horrific tragedy unfold, and I send my deepest sympathies to the families and friends of the victims. I can only imagine the constant fear of those living in the D.C. area, especially families with small children.

“I’ve been fully briefed by the FBI and Washington State Patrol as this investigation has unfolded. I applaud the continued close coordination between the FBI, State Patrol and local law enforcement agencies on this case.

“I’ve pledged the full resources of the state to assist in this investigation and bring the responsible individual or individuals to justice.”
