Gov. Locke extends sympathies to the family, friends and co-workers of slain Department of Licensing employee; orders state flags at half-staff
OLYMPIA –
Gov. Gary Locke today extended condolences to the family, friends and co-workers of
Roger Erdman, a 14-year
Department of Licensing auditor in Spokane killed while working in the field.
“On behalf of the state, our hearts and prayers go out to all those who knew and loved Roger Erdman,” Locke said. “Roger Erdman was a dedicated, hard-working and well-liked state employee, and his tragic death is felt by us all.”
Locke ordered flags at all state institutions to be flown at half-staff in Erdman’s memory.
After Erdman was reported missing, Locke was briefed on his disappearance and asked the
State Patrol to fully assist in the investigation. Locke also discussed Erdman’s disappearance with the
FBI. Locke praised law enforcement officers for apprehending a suspect in the case this morning.
“I commend the effective cooperation between state and local law enforcement officials in acting quickly and thoroughly to apprehend a suspect in this case,” Locke said.
