Supplemental Changes

Reading Emphasis Grant
The 1996 Supplemental Budget provided $1,500,000 to support effective reading programs in the elementary grades. The budget provided $330,000 for the 1995-96 fiscal year and $1,170,000 for the 1996-97 fiscal year. The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction was unable to commit and expend $185,000 of the 1995-96 appropriation before June 30, 1996. The additional $185,000 provided in FY 97 will allow the full $1.5 million to be expended for reading emphasis grants during the biennium.
