Federal Grant for Crime Victims
The United States Department of Justice has awarded the Crime Victims Compensation Program $3,831,000 for Federal Fiscal Year 1997. This represents an increase of $1,022,000 over the Department's estimate of the Federal Fiscal Year 1997 award. One of the eligibility requirements is that the state certifies that grants received will not be used to supplant state funds otherwise available to provide crime victim compensation.
