Capital Overview
The Washington State Historical Society is a non-profit membership
organization designated as a trustee agency of state government.
The Society collects, preserves, protects, exhibits, and publishes
materials that illustrate Washington's past, assists local historical
organizations; and conducts educational programs across the state.
The Society operates museums in Tacoma, Olympia and Vancouver.
The new Washington History Museum, completed during the 1995-97
Biennium, is the main building owned and operated by the Society.
Other assets continue to provide support for the goals of the
organization.
Capital Plan Highlights
- Funds are included for the first phase of renovation to the
infrastructure and seismic stabilization of the Stadium Way facility
in Tacoma.
- Funds for preservation projects at both the Tacoma facility
and the State Capital Museum are included.
- A new program which will provide funds for Heritage projects
across the state is implemented.
