As a result of the enactment of Chapter 186, Laws of 1996, the
duties and functions of the Washington State Energy Office were
transferred to other state agencies effective July 1, 1996. Those
duties and functions related to energy resource policy and planning
and energy facility siting were transferred to the Department
of Community, Trade, and Economic Development. Those duties and
functions related to energy education, applied research, and technology
transfer programs were transferred to Washington State University.
Those duties and functions related to energy efficiency in public
buildings were transferred to the Department of General Administration.
Those duties and functions related to commute trip reduction were
transferred to the Department of Transportation. All data for
this agency have been transferred to these other agencies and
are shown in those agencies for comparability purposes.
