TO: All State Agencies

FROM: Mike Lowry, Governor

SUBJECT: Lowering of the Washington State and United States Flags

I am directing that flags at all state agency facilities be lowered to half staff today, February 6, in recognition of the passing of former Washington State Representative James Salatino. This is a statewide flag lowering.

Representative Salatino who served from 1977 to 1982, represented the 27th district in Tacoma. He also served on the Pierce County Council and taught in the public school and community college systems.

"Sal had an enthusiasm and passion for public service that will be greatly missed," said Gov. Mike Lowry. "We will long appreciate his contributions to Pierce County and the entire state of Washington."

The flag lowering shall continue until the evening of February 8th. Please notify all of your remote and branch sites. If you have any questions please contact Brent Heinemann at (360) 753-6780. Flags may be raised to full staff at the morning of the following day, February 9.
