Gov. Locke statement on expected Boeing layoffs

“The airline industry faces a looming crisis as a result of last week’s appalling terrorist attacks. In response to this crisis, The Boeing Company plans to layoff 20,000 to 30,000 employees from its commercial airplanes unit by the end of next year.

“I want every Boeing worker who faces these layoffs to know that the state of Washington will provide them all the assistance we possibly can to help them transition into other jobs.”
