Statement from Gov. Gary Locke on federal Court of Appeals Microsoft decision

"Today's unanimous decision by the federal Court of Appeals is great news! Not only does the ruling reverse the breakup order but it will allow Microsoft to plead its case before an impartial and unbiased judge.

"I have said all along that there was no need to breakup Microsoft. Today's decision is further proof that the lower court's breakup order was out of bounds. I hope that the parties involved in the suit will now settle this case and move forward.

"Today's ruling is a victory not only for Microsoft, but for consumers as well. It will allow and encourage Microsoft to continue to improve people's lives through innovation.

"We are proud that Microsoft calls Washington state home. We hope that the company continues to grow and thrive in our state and we will do everything in our power to ensure that it does."
