Locke fills posts on gambling commission, other state boards

OLYMPIA - Gov. Gary Locke appointed members to the state Gambling Commission, community college boards of trustees and boundary review boards.


Ret. Judge Marshall Forrest, of Bellingham, was appointed to the Gambling Commission. Marshall served as a superior and district court judge in Whatcom County.


Lawyer Patricia Kruse Herbold, of Bellevue, also was appointed to the Gambling Commission. Her term expires June 30, 1997. Marshall's term expires June 30, 2002.


Locke also made appointments to the governing boards of several community colleges. Barbara Andersen, of Camano Island, was appointed to the board of Skagit Valley College. Andersen is an executive director at the North Region Emergency Management Service & Trauma Care Council.


Sharon Hart, an executive director for the Lower Columbia Economic Development Council, was appointed to the board of Lower Columbia College. She resides in Cathlamet.


Susan Sellers, who was the southwest Washington coordinator for former Gov. Lowry, was appointed to the board of Clark College, and Robert Fong, a Bellingham restaurant owner was appointed to the board of Whatcom Community College. All terms expire Sept. 30, 1998, except for Sellers, whose term expires Sept. 30, 2001.


Locke also appointed George Fisher, a retired Naval Commander from Anacortes to the Skagit County Boundary Review Board, Mick Hansen, president of a Moses Lake construction company to the Grant County Boundary Review Board and Christopher Moench, a Bellingham business owner to the Whatcom County Boundary Review Board. All terms expires Jan. 21, 2001, except for Hansen whose term expires Jan. 31, 1999.
