Gov. Locke to visit Bellingham and Seattle

OLYMPIA - Gov. Gary Locke will be in Bellingham and Seattle on Thursday, Feb. 27, to visit Western Washington University and the University of Washington. The trip is part of a series of community visits Locke plans to highlight education.

"It's important to get out in the community and see education at work first-hand," Locke said. "Education is what makes hope and opportunity possible. That's why I am passionately committed to developing a world-class system of education."

During his visit Locke will tour the Science, Mathematics, Technology and Education Building (SMATE) at Western Washington University, hold a town hall meeting in Bellingham and see a walking robot demonstration at the UW's Department of Computer Science & Engineering.
