Locke names Bellingham as 'Capital for a Day'

OLYMPIA - Gov. Gary Locke today announced Bellingham will be the "Capital for a Day" on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 1998. Locke and his executive cabinet directors will host a series of events as they take state government on the road to Bellingham.

"This event is a great opportunity for the people who run state government to listen and learn first-hand to the concerns of residents in the community," said Locke.

The governor is scheduled to speak at the Bellingham Chamber of Commerce luncheon and field questions from citizens at a barbecue and town hall meeting. The town hall meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Whatcom Community College Pavilion, 237 W. Kellogg Rd. Complete details of the governor's schedule will be released next week.

Locke has held "Capital for a Day" events in Everett, Spokane, Vancouver and Yakima.
